Student Assistant at the USC Special Collection Library To understand what I do, first you must understand where I work. The Special Collection Library is one of the many libraries on campus. However, this library is a little different than most. The Special Collection library is where USC houses all of its primary source materials and books. Most of the time they are not only old but also very rare. The collection contains over 1,000 archival collections and over 2 million photographs. These materials date back as far as the 13th century. This library is also different because patrons aren’t able to walk through the book stacks, look through books unwatched or even check material out. Due to the nature of the material everyone who comes in contact with the books or other collections must be sure to treat them with the utmost care. Ellen Pao is an investor who made her way through the tech scene eventually landing at Venture Capital firm Kleiner Perkins. In 2015 she made the news for bringing a case against Kleiner Perkins for gender discrimination. This problem she writes is largely known and accepted across the Venture Capital and tech scene along with many other fields but little is done against to solve the issue. Her case was the first to go head to head against such an established firm. As her case escalated many women began reaching out. Many of them related to her and had similar experiences. After the lawsuit was over she heard from more women come forward sharing their own experiences, some even started calling themselves Team Ellen. Despite losing the case, as a result of the publicity, she was able to shed light on an issue many thought was no longer an issue. My father is French but met my mother when he came to the U.S to study in New York. My mother and father both moved back to France and I  was born in Paris and lived there for four years. After my parents got divorced, I then moved back to New York with my mom and sister. When applying to college I had a hard time figuring out what I wanted to do. I spent a long time searching through different majors and college. I have always wanted to travel and as I thought more about majoring in business it became a prospect I was increasingly excited about. Being accepted into the WBB community, I learned that I was interested in finance and investment banking. To receive a job in the finance field.
